Modeling is essential in scientific and engineering activities. The complementary differences, including polar opposites, between Science and Engineering, cause a differentiation in modeling and models between both kinds of activities. This is one of the reasons why the Organizing Committee of International Multi-Conference on Complexity, Informatics and Cybernetics: IMCIC 2011 thought that the Multi-disciplinary nature of the attendees of this conference represent an adequate forum for holding the International Symposium on Qualitative, Quantitative, and Hybrid Models and Modeling Methodologies in Science and Engineering: MMMse 2011, in its context. Furthermore, the increasing complexity of scientific and engineering modeling activities are requiring more intensified support from informatics and cyber-technologies, which have been essential support for to the emergence of Collaborative Modeling.
