Submission may be made to any of the following related areas; which potential cybernetic loops and, hence, synergies are shown in the sketchy diagram below. Their non-exclusive suggested topics are listed at the end of this Call for Participation. More details regarding each of the following areas can be found at the respective provided links.
- Interdisciplinary Research, Education, and Communication: IDREC 2017 (iiis2017.org/idrec)

- Innovation and Entrepreneurship: SIE 2017 (iiis2017.org/sie)
Publications
Proceedings: All accepted and presented articles will be included in WMSCI 2017 proceedings; which has been indexed by Scopus since 2005.
Publication in the Journal: Two kinds of papers will be published in the journal: 1) those selected as the best session’s paper the respective attendees and 2) those recommended for publication by the reviewers of the journal. This reviewing will be made after the conference is over and will be based on the final versions of the papers presented (face to face or virtually) at the conference. Virtual presentations are via asynchronous means and described at the conference web site.
The journal publication will be via a special issue of the Journal of Systemics, Cybernetics, and Informatics (JSCI) which will be entitled “Interdisciplinarity and Relating Research and Practice”, if an adequate number of articles are submitted, accepted, presented at the conference, and selected for the journal, by the majority of the respective reviewers. Otherwise, best papers and the selected papers for their publication in the journal will be published in regular issues. JSCI is indexed by EBSCO, Cabell, DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals), Academic Journals Database, and Google Scholar and listed in Cabell Directory of Publishing Opportunities and in Ulrich’s Periodical Directory. In any of the above cases, the publication in the journal will not require an additional cost from the respective author.
The Journal of Systemics, Cybernetics, and Informatics (JSCI) was asked by the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) to re-apply because DOAJ identified more rigorous criteria to list journals in its directory and to index them. After re-applying the Journal was accepted again with the following new benefits (we are making a copy and paste from the email we received form them):
- Our statistics show more than 900 000 page views and 300 000 unique visitors a month to DOAJ from all over the world.
- Many aggregators, databases, libraries, publishers and search portals collect our free metadata and include it in their products. Examples are Scopus, Serial Solutions and EBSCO.
- DOAJ is OAI compliant and once an article is in DOAJ, it is automatically harvestable.
- DOAJ is OpenURL compliant and once an article is in DOAJ, it is automatically linkable.
- Over 95% of the DOAJ Publisher community said that DOAJ is important for increasing their journal's visibility
- DOAJ is often cited as a source of quality, open access journals in research and scholarly publishing circles.
Submissions for Face-to-Face or Virtual Presentations Will Be Accepted
There will be virtual presentations for those who cannot attend the conference and virtual sessions to all participants, i.e. those making face-to-face and virtual presentations.
Pre-Conference and Post-conference Virtual Sessions (via asynchronous means similar to electronic forum) will be held for each face-to-face session included in the conference program, so that sessions papers can be read before the conference, and authors presenting at the same session can interact during few days before the conference as well as during the conference and for at least two weeks after the conference is over. These virtual sessions allows for Per to Peer Reviewing (PPPR) for the final versions of the papers presented face-to-face and virtual asynchronous means.
Please notice that virtual presentations and virtual sessions are different notions. Virtual presentations are part (a sub-set) of the Virtual Sessions which will include the final versions of the papers presented face-to-face, as well and asynchronous means for making comments and providing feedback. The following Venn diagram shows the two sub-sets of presentations in the set of all the virtual sessions. More details regarding virtual sessions and virtual participation can be found at the main conference web site or directly with this link http://www.iiis2017.org/wmsci/Website/VParticVirtualSessions.asp?vc=1
Main Purpose
Inter-Disciplinary Research, Education and Communication are frequently associated and relevant to adequately relating research and practice. This is one of the main reasons for organizing this special event and publishing a special issue of the Journal on Systemic, Cybernetics, and Informatics: JSCI (https://www.iiisci.org/journal/sci/EditBoard.asp?var). Accordingly, the main purpose of IRRP 2017, and the related Journal’s Special Issue is to bring together researchers and practitioners in 1) inter-disciplinary research, education and communication, 2) associated methodologies (e.g. Action-Research, Action-Learning, Case Studies, Qualitative Research), and 3) related activities and practices (e.g. in design, modeling, innovation, entrepreneurship, research via Consulting, Consulting via Research).
Submission may be made to any of the areas listed above which have the below sketched actual or potential, explicit or implicit reciprocal relationships, which may generate cybernetic loops and, hence, synergies.
